that the majority of social security recipients vote Republican (61%) and that the Democrats using political capital to defend SS is a waste of capital. The Republicans won't cut it because their voters won't allow it. It's political gamesmanship.

WHY DO YOU REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE OBVIOUS?

Why have you ignored all the other comments to your posts about how Obama has proposed this and every time the Republican SS voters have been educated about the true agenda of their Republican officials? Why have you not acknowledged that every time Obama has put this on the table, in his effort to cut the budget like the Republicans are screaming for, the Republicans have kept the benefits in place? It's a win-win. Republicans: Obama won't cut the budget.
Obama: Yes I will here's a few billion in cuts
Republicans: Hey wait, there's SS in there. our voters might find out we support cutting it
Obama: Well, let's put it out in the public and see if they still vote for you after you vote to cut it
Republicans: never mind, leave SS alone

in exchange for chained CPI because both efforts would hurt GOP with their core voters.
