Visitors Can Now Trek Across Lake Superior to See Sea CavesBy WSJ STAFF
For the first time in five years, Lake Superior is frozen solid enough to allow visitors to reach the sea caves at the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore near Cornucopia, Wisconsin, and for the last several weeks a constant stream of visitors has made the trek.
The caves are usually accessible only by water, but Lake Superiors rock-solid ice cover is allowing people walk to them.
On Saturday, 11,000 people made the trek to the caves, according to the Associated Press. Below, photos of park visitors at the sea caves in February.
