The Right Blames Rachel Maddow For Chris Christie’s Record Low Approval Rating

The Right Blames Rachel Maddow For Chris Christie’s Record Low Approval Rating
By: Jason Easley

According to the latest Monmouth University Poll, Chris Christie’s approval rating has hit a new low, and some on the right are blaming Rachel Maddow for his decline.

The poll found that the trouble is only growing for Gov. Christie. His overall approval rating has dropped nine points since January and stands at 50%-44%. Christie has lost 12 points of support among Republicans (89%-77%), eight points with Independents (62%-54%), and seven points with Democrats (38%-31%). Overall, Christie’s approval rating has dropped 20 points in the last year (70% to 50%).

Some on the right have decided to blame MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow for Christie’s decline.

On HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, this past Friday, Charles C.W. Cooke of the National Review accused Maddow of taking Christie down in order to carry out her political agenda.

Video @ link~

Cooke said, “A lot of more conservative Republicans thought, ah, this is our chance to get rid of him, and so did MSNBC. I mean why don’t we just come clean, What you have been trying to do for the last two months is trying to get rid of Chris Christie from the race.”

Not surprisingly, Republicans have been howling about liberal bias and how the media is trying to force Christie out of the race. After Christie’s epic press conference didn’t make the scandal go away, Karl Rove said on Fox News Sunday, “The amount of attention paid to Chris Christie makes the coverage of Benghazi, at the same time, the coverage of the IRS, pale in significance.” (PunditFact rated Rove’s statement as false.)

In the Republican mind, Rachel Maddow is to blame for Chris Christie’s sagging poll numbers. They want so badly to make Christie’s downfall someone else’s fault. They can’t handle the fact that their best hope for 2016 self destructed all on his own.

Chris Christie, he totally reminds me of the guys who I grew up with who weaseled out of every thing by loudly proclaiming innocence. It was never their fault and the present situation is clearly only of interest because busy bodies like Maddow won't STFU.

well I say shame on Rachel Maddow for picking on such clearly innocent, well meaning, good to his mother, saint like boy Chris Christie. Bill Maher is right she should lay off this story. It this keeps up things will only end badly.

That since Christie's approval ranting dropped 12-points among Republicans there is a shitload of republicans that watch Rachel Meddow, and are strongly influenced by her.

At least we on the left don't watch Fox News and/or let it influence our views at the very same time we blame them for doing so.

It's good to be a part if a party that is actually SANE!

he looks around and points the finger for his own failings at everyone else. The party of personal responsibility-if something goes wrong, somebody else is personally responsible.

If this were unforeseeable or a singular mistake these missteps could be excused. However, when this is viewed for what it is-a part of a greater pattern of behavior-its time for some accountability from the Christie administration. Trying to lay blame at the feet of everyone else is not only unseemly, it virtually guarantees that nothing will get fixed. Recovery from a disaster of the magnitude of Sandy is an enormous and incredibly complex undertaking. Governor Christie was obsessed with the opportunity for power and the chance to burnish his image as a strong leader that Sandy, and its billions in disaster aid, represented. However, he has proven that he and his administration were not up to the challenges posed in this recovery, either intellectually or morally. That may be a tough charge, but it has been earned.

The backlash is starting to really take its toll. Is so much more than Bridgegate.

I had already made up my mind about your bloviating sack of protoplasm long before I heard the first word from Rachel Maddow about him. It was nice that you consider Ms. Maddow so powerful & influential, but this tale of corruption and abuse of power had taken on a life of its own long before she helped spread the word.

Rachel has been doing a true journalist's job of communicating verifiable information as it becomes available.
This has increased the awareness of Christie's difficulties.
If the press didn't do it's job to inform the public, Christie would probably have higher approval ratings because no one would know what was going on.

Essentially they are complaining that a free press is the problem.
And that it is when politicians break the law. A free press is certainly the problem, for the law breakers.
