Hey Cokie, you elitist, snotty, lucky-sperm-club-member:

Just WHY do you THINK that President Barack Obama is "NOT WELCOME IN SOUTHERN STATES"?

Sitting there on Mourning Jerk with that plastic-surgerized stupid smirk on her face disparaging "DehhmoCRATS" in that trained voice, with her trademark impatience. Her mother and father would be spinning about now...

I can't stand her. (Did you notice?)

I don't think Obama is terribly welcome in southern states...and I'm not watching the show.

A little context might be useful.

Cokie comes from a family of southern (LA) Democrats. Her mom was Congresswoman/ambassador Lindy Boggs, her father was Rep. Hale Boggs.

As for "lucky" Cokie, her father was killed in a plane crash in Alaska, and she is crawling back from cancer.

Some luck!

do you think that she would be where she is FOR ONE INSTANT if her father had not been who he was? She is the most exclusionary individual who worked for NPR in the old days, and was the resident on-air rich snob. She cannot denigrate Democrats enough EVERY time she opens her mouth. I know EXACTLY who her father and mother were, and the fact that she had cancer is a personal issue for her - perhaps she would develop some altruism and understanding of those who are less fortunate in many ways, but she most certainly has NOT. In addition, the fact that her father was probably murdered in that plane crash since he was one of the dissenters, so to speak, on the Warren Commission, should be recognized along with the small-plane deaths of so many including Senator Wellstone. I find her disgusting in the extreme and her biased 'take' on events given her background is reprehensible and irresponsible and certainly not 'journalistic', although she never purported to be a real reporter since she is married to one of the most influential individuals in the news business.

morning cable show that comes on at the ass-crack of dawn. What they do on that show, too, isn't "journalism," it's "opinion." Maybe "commentary." But that's on a good day.

Anyway, we know about opinions, everyone's got at least one...

And you really find this 70 year old woman "disgusting in the extreme?"

You're either hyperbolic or hyper-sensitive. IMO. And no one reading this thread, YET, has a clue as to what this older woman did or said this morning that was so blooming "offensive."

yes, I do...I find that these individuals with their academic and social pedigree disgusting when they subvert the needs and want of the vast populus of America. She is a representative of the elite and carries out her duties with rigor and purpose. Her arrogant air allowed the People to believe that we were better off under Reagan, Bush, and Junior, and these wayward Democrats come and disturb her High Tea. How DARE they?

It's not hyperbole...it's the truth. You want to defend her because of her gender, go right ahead. I'm not interested in 'causes', I'm looking for the truth to be spoken.

BTW, Morning Joe sets the tone for the rest of the day for Rethugs...in case you hadn't noticed. It is cleverly placed exactly for that reason.

"picking a fight?"

Please. Try backing up what you say, maybe you won't get push-back if you do.

You don't like her "arrogant air." You don't like her "academic and social pedigree."

And then you accuse me of defending her "because of her gender." Ummmmm-no.

I'm saying you haven't made even a soupçon of a case; all you've done is rail nastily.

Sorry--you're coming off poorly in this conversation. There's something about her personality that bugs you for some reason and I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that it had nothing to do with her, personally. Making "gender" excuses to try to refute my puzzlement at your angry lashing out just isn't on, either.

I'll give you some advice, not that you'll take it. When you see her on your tee vee, pick up that thing called "the remote" and push a button on it. Problem solved...no need to sit in the "Rethug" morning briefing if you can avoid it, n'est pas?

I'm going to approach your whole post thusly: you are automatically gainsaying anything which I state. You have that right and I have the right to call you on it. anyone who watches TeeVee knows that Cokie does what she does, but what you are trying to do is make the conversation about me...and it won't work. As far as what I watch, that is my own business, and no one has the right to tell me that I can change the channel. I know I can. But I want to know what's being peddled out there.

As far as railing nastily, I can't hold a candle to you or Cokie, for that matter. You're both pros.

I do have the "right" to suggest you change the channel, too. You are, of course, free to ignore my suggestion.

You're the one who is making the conversation about you--with your abrasive and unsupported comments! That last one is a particularly representative 'gem!'

She was directly rebutting Joe Scar.

I don't know who she's been hanging out with in Washington, but she's become an awful, bitter old harpy. All she does is bitch about Democrats and how they can't connect with whites, which is utter bullshit. She never adds anything substantive to a discussion.

Anyone remember her fake newshot in 1994?

Cokie Roberts Reprimanded For Fake Shot

OTHER NEWS TO NOTE - WASHINGTONFebruary 16, 1994

ABC News correspondent Cokie Roberts and a producer were reprimanded for faking an outdoor shot at Capitol Hill. On Jan. 26 World News Tonight anchorman Peter Jennings in New York switched to Roberts in Washington for a discussion of President Clinton's State of the Union address delivered the previous night. Jennings said Roberts was ''at Capitol Hill'' and Roberts was seen standing in front of the Capitol wearing an overcoat. Roberts, apparently pressed for time, did the standup from a studio a few blocks away. Roberts didn't return telephone calls Tuesday. However, Roberts told The Washington Post, ''I made a mistake.''

and I waited for someone else to put this in context (the OP doesn't seem to want to be bothered). They were talking about Bill Clinton's visit to KY yesterday to campaign for Grimes. When it was pointed out that Grimes didn't seem to want Pres Obama's help, that's when Cokie made her comment.

That said, Cokie is a moron and that has nothing to do with her parents or her upbringing.

I don't think that comment is unsupported, regardless of how anyone feels about Ms. Roberts, never mind her parents. I'd say it was an entirely accurate observation. Kentucky isn't the most liberal state in our union, certainly.
