for freaking out and killing 17 Afghans.
But these freaks go free after murdering hundreds of thousands of innocent people?

OPOS
(73 posts)First of all, the RW Nuts could say the same for Obama and the rising casualties in Afghanistan since HE took over as Commander in Chief. It's flawed logic to claim them devils, and Obama an angel for the same actions.
Secondly, Bales actually committed real murders, not theoretical violations but tangible crimes.
Finally saying Bush Cheney murdered hundreds of thousands implies those of us who served in Iraq and Afghanistan are running amok murdering for Bush and Cheney. I dont know about you I didnt murder anyone in my tours of duty. I dont know personally a single man whom I served with who Murdered anyone, much less killed someone accidentally.
arely staircase
(12,482 posts)a logical fallacy that occurs when it is assumed that if one wrong is committed, another wrong will cancel it out.
Speaker A: You shouldn't embezzle from your employer. It's against the law.
Speaker B: My employer cheats on their taxes. That's against the law, too!
The unstated premise is that breaking the law (the wrong) is justified, as long as the other party also does so. It is often used as a red herring, or an attempt to change or distract from the issue. For example:
Speaker A: President Williams lied in his testimony to Congress. He should not do that.
Speaker B: But you are ignoring the fact that President Roberts lied in his Congressional testimony!

(32,073 posts)In the military system the President has to sign a death warrant if someone is going to get the death penalty. No President, not Obama or any in the future, would do that. It would be political suicide and they know it.
