http://www.buzzfeed.com/provincialelitist/forever-21-hates-womens-kneecapsWhat is wrong with these people? There are a bunch of other examples at the link. This is photoshopping/airbrushing to an absurd degree. What's wrong with people who look like people?

(27,630 posts)Anyway, erasing kneecaps? It's designed to mollify skinny women's fears that their knobby knees will stick out all over the place if they buy shorts.
Point 2: Showing a skinny-legged model is designed to mollify all other women's fears that their legs will look fat in shorts.
Trompe 'l oeil designed to sell more clothes. That's all it is. But thank you for pointing this out, so we can be aware of the visual deceptions, trying to manipulate us into buying stuff.

(135,425 posts)The knees sticking out--I remember when Twiggy became popular and I thought those knees were just ghastly. That's exactly what they are doing, and that's exactly why. I guess the only thing worse than ten extra pounds is .... knobby knees!
I don't see many people in my world who are skinny like these kids, except maybe some of the very elderly ladies I drive to the doctor on occasion--they're the ones who are living on Ensure because they don't like the way anything tastes anymore. I don't think they give a crap about their knees at this stage--unless their replacement one is failing, or something...!

(135,425 posts)She was on the show with crowd favorite, George Hamilton--who really was hysterically funny on the show. He used to do this oversized leer at her while she was doing her stand-up after her dance, and it initially pissed her off. Then, when the TV audience took to the schtick, she realized it could be a moneymaker and went along with it. Later, the two of them (Keibler and Hamilton) did a cracker commercial that riffed on that DWTS bit--Triscuits, I think.
I never would have paired those two (SK and Clooney) based on superficial glimpses of them on television. Opposites attract, I guess!
