The Ukrainian woman known as the "real-life Barbie" says she's done with food and water, and wants to live off light and air alone.
"In recent weeks I have not been hungry at all," Valeria Lukyanova told the International Business Times. "I'm hoping it's the final stage before I can subsist on air and light alone."
The New Age practice is known as Breatharianism. Its followers neither eat nor drink, believing they can exist solely on "cosmic micro-food."
Lukyanova, who has stirred controversy with her doll-like features and ultra-thin waist, has said she uses her appearance to promote her "spiritual ideas."

I've known a few earnest and ethereal hippies who wanted to be breatharians. None lasted more than a few days and all were made quite ill by it if they didn't drink. Zealotry was it's own reward.

That told me a lot about our previously banned troll, as did the fact his first email to women he wanted to meet online was "on your knees b...h."
As for the article, lack of hunger is the stage before death, which is what is going to happen if she doesn't eat or drink water.

(53,035 posts)Please feel free to correct the record. Provide the links. I'm pretty sure my recollection is accurate.
And, you've never been friendly with someone who turned out to be a troll, amirite?
That was clear from the outset. The question is if the administrators want her gone or if she is otherwise disruptive. I'm glad to have another feminist ally around. I won't pretend otherwise.
I suppose the question I have is, was maudes PPR the reason you pulled a Palin in MIRT?
BainsBane
(53,035 posts)Though while I was on MIRT, I donated a lot of my time there, and rarely if ever missed a day. I recently spoke to an active MIRT member who had no idea you were supposed to be serving this term. I suppose I could have remained a member and not just done anything, but I didn't see much point to that.
I provided the links to the posts I referred to by your favorite troll.
opiate69
(10,129 posts)I do believe I had a pretty important part to play in getting your favorite troll PPRd once again. As for your friend who "didn't know I was even there", I can venture a good guess who your talking about, and I think I can count on one hand the number of posts she's even deigned to make in there.
BainsBane
(53,035 posts)I did specify an active MIRT member, and having served on MIRT myself, I know which of the regulars are active or not.
As for xulamaude, you boast too much. She was PPR'd before the current MIRT term began, and those serving at the time were not involved in it, absent those first threads from months before, an excerpt of which you posted in violation of MIRT confidentiality guidelines.
So let's revisit:
1) you claim responsibility for getting PPR'd someone banned before your term began. (Unless I have mistaken your reference to my favorite troll. She was indeed my favorite. I liked her very much.) It certainly isn't beyond the possibility that you played a roll in her banning, but it was before your MIRT service and therefore not evidence of active participation.
2) you searched back to MIRT correspondence early in the previous term, when you were not a member.
3) you posted an excerpt of that discussion, in violation of confidentiality guidelines for MIRT.
You did all this because you were angry that I maligned a troll banned multiple times. A troll about which you felt compelled to protect by posting this in ATA, which I thought was uncool even before I knew what it was about because such discussions and questions are typically resolved within MIRT.
And then the question arises about whether you knew loliphabay was a previously banned troll. You know information about him he has not disclosed on DU, which suggests you know something about his identity off this site. Posts in the men's group also indicate that you and he shared pictures offsite.
In the post from MIRT you posted above in violation of confidentially guidelines, I made clear I knew she was a zombie because it was evident from her posts the first day. I also was entirely forthcoming about my bias. Were you similarly honest with your fellow MIRT members?

(53,035 posts)That was a standard by which all members conducted themselves. Of course, considering the source, expecting respect is clearly folly. sites, people have learned that its better to be brutally frank in the first statement than waste hours chatting to find you are not compatible. same as your profile should be as honest as you can make it, your wants etc ie hwp, disease free, drug free, employed, insert kink. etc etc.

(10,129 posts)The fact is that he was trying to explain to you interactions within a subculture which you seem profoundly ignorant of. Nothing in those links you provide say that he used that line, at all. In fact, the fact that he identifies as a submissive, through and through, makes the idea that he would use that line laughable.

"Breatharianism" is the way a fake guru seperates a fool from his or her money, then gets rid of the evidence in the name of "religious freedom".

It's a simple formula. 5/5/5
If you go without oxygen for five minutes, you're dead.
If you go without hydration for five days, you're dead.
If you go without food for five weeks, you're dead.
Or course, this depends on your base health profile, but those three values certainly do not vary very far and for many people could be less than five.
People who claim that they are breatharians are just plain lying.
Those who follow them, are fools.
