Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsJust got a robocall from the NRA. I think I've figured them out.
it was a 'hair-on-fire' message from a VP of NRA about Obama repealing the 2nd amendment and the UN coming in to the U.S. to confiscate our guns.
At the end you could press '1' to vote "NO! I don't want the UN to confiscate our guns!"
or '2' "Yes, I WANT the UN to confiscate our guns."
I voted '2'.
I think I've figured this out.
When the NRA mounts one of these campaigns, they get many new members.
Due$ paying members.
Due$ paying members who also buy NRA cloth patche$, window decal$, T-shirt$, cap$, etc. from their handy online store.
AND...guess how many gun retailers belong to the NRA (rough estimate, ALL) and benefit from increased gun sales.
Headline on Faux Snooze today: "Gun sales skyrocket ahead of 2012 election."
Yeah, I'm watching it as part of an experiment.

Guns are a part of the GOP 3G scare tactics - GUNS, GODS and GAYS
and the thing is the 'scare' is all BULLSHIT!

(54,256 posts)Like 'HE' can single handedly repeal an amendment to the U.S. constitution.
And grant the authority to the UN to come on American soil and confiscate ANYTHING.
jeez

(95,337 posts)Then I asked him when the last time someone came to his door and took his guns away.
He realized it was bullshit.
Thing is about the NRA - about 80% of the members are actually pretty decent people who enjoy hunting and target shooting. Unfortunately the numnuts got control of the NRA and turned it into something vile!

(31,182 posts)It is even better for them because they can focus their hatred against one of the Clintons: the Secretary of State.
The National Ass. of Gun Rights is running these campaigns. I got Google ads to remove their ads for this campaign.

Some of these NRA folks are living in a hazy half-world where they are half in the present and half in the dreamworld of something out of a video game, of freedom fighters up against the galaxy of Evil and must overcome them with the force of the arms they stashed away just for the purpose of overthrowing tyranny...ah yes, how satisfying that narrative is!

(78 posts)I just got that really odd robocall, too.
I didn't think of it until after, but if you don't answer the survey, some operator comes on to make sure you heard the choices - I just set the phone down and continued my day - but I should have asked where her call center was located.
