This missing plane is conjuring up Stephen King's 'The Langoliers'...

a very compelling novella and even the TeeVee movie was not half bad. It was rough enough to contemplate weird crashing/disappearing scenarios when I awakened in the middle of the night for middle-aged-men's reasons, but then to read that the cell phone of one of the passengers is (ostensibly) ringing was enough to give me the willies bigtime.

The perplexing part is that, beyond the Jet-A slick, there's no sign of it. Cooley Hurd Mar 2014 #1

did you ever see that jeff Bridges film about the survivors of an air disaster? They have a scene late in the film of what is was like in the cabin as they were plunging towards the ground. Horrifying.

I have a good friend who survived a plane crash. He was seated in the tail - the aircraft broke apart - there was a massive fire in the front - but they ran through the black forest in the other direction. Many people died that day. He says all that went through his mind was not seeing his son again and he ran from the aircraft as fast as he could. He was a student in Moscow at the time. He is now a grandfather of two.

but he added that you need to be on LSD to even begin to understand it (yes, he did watch it while on LSD and off for comparison)...
