Dem Rep.: I've 'Probably' Supported George Bush More Than Obama

Dem Rep.: I've 'Probably' Supported George Bush More Than Obama

Rep. Nick Rahall (D-WV) on Wednesday said he wasn't the biggest fan of President Obama because of how the administration's policies have impacted West Virginia.

“I probably have supported George Bush more than I have Barack Obama,” Rahall told The Hill when asked if Obama was good for his state. “Am I going to switch parties because of that? No. I’m a Democrat, born a Democrat, am a Democrat and will die a Democrat.”

Rahall explained that he places his state above his party when it comes to supporting Obama.

“I will support him when he’s good for West Virginia, and I will oppose him when he’s bad for West Virginia,” Rahall said.

The congressman is facing a tough re-election in 2014 and has already been hit by Republican ads over Obamacare. Rahall supported the law, but was critical of the glitchy rollout.

Well, he is in a state that gave a person imprisoned in Texas 40 percent of the vote in the last Democratic Presidential Primary.

They'll drink poison water, be miserable in perpetuity, have failing school systems, and watch their state get destroyed by mining interests, but by golly they know the most important thing is to stand up to Obama.

He was one of the first ones to endorse Obama.

He's Lebanese and is for peace in the middle east not invasion and war.

You are not going to see Rahall vote for anything that hurts the coal industry or restricts guns. A lot of his district is in the coal fields.

If you look a some of the other things he has voted for he's quite progressive. Definitely pro worker pro union. Helped get one of my favorite backpacking areas declared wilderness.

His district is very redneck. He got in when the democrats were associated with helping working people and unions, before the party's turn to socially liberal and business friendly. Now he's hanging on.

He'd be more liberal if he could but by some of his stands I don't like he's holding off something that could be far worse.
