(135,425 posts)wife to lean upon. No matter how old our relatives are, they still seem invincible until they leave us. It's a tough event to process.

My maternal grandmother was lucky enough to die at 4am on her 86th birthday with her youngest son at her side (my father) after an illness lat lasted two weeks.
I was lucky enough to be at my mother's side, with my father and two brothers, when she died.
It took at least two years for me to not tear up when thinking of my mother. However I am in tears as I write this post.

(14,337 posts)I was very blessed to have spent a very enjoyable night over her house before she passed the next day when I was 22. I hope she enjoyed her last night on this earth as much as I did being with her.
