Hunting something that is done in a legal manner. If an animal is killed in an illegal manner, it is poaching.

came through here from back east and stopped on the interstate, shot a llama and tried to retrieve it from private property. HE THOUGHT IT WAS A FUCKING ELK. And these people are allowed to own a gun??

Poaching bison is obviously a serious offense and I hope they nail the perp but in the grand scheme of things the mismanagement of grizzlies, bison, wolves, elk and other species has been a much bigger problem in Yellowstone than poaching.

See this article. In order to maintain genetic diversity in Yellowstone wildlife populations it is necessary to bring in animals from other locations. In other words, Yellowstone is basically a zoo.
