I've been astounded at the comments by people on Facebook, especially. One woman wants to impeach Obama because insurance for her and her daughter will cost $320 month. Another single man in his 40s only wants insurance if it costs around $75 month.
How much do these people pay for auto insurance? Now I know, I know. So many people have been without the thought of insurance for so long that they just don't know what it has cost for a long time. They have no perspective, so the ACA is hard to take, at least for some.
Still, I had catastrophic insurance for a couple years in the early '90s. It only kicked in after several thousand dollars of individual output, and it was $50 a month then, and I was in my early 20s. Thus, it's hard to figure out how someone would be astounded by those examples. It's 22 years later. They're getting actual coverage.
Perspective is not easy for any of us. How do we help those who have been out of health care coverage for so long have perspective? Should they have perspective? I'm honestly open to any responses.

(21,043 posts)As to authority, I think Republicans admire authority tremendously. In fact, they worship it. Look at the way they idolize preachers, for example.

My neighbor's cardiac operation cost over a third of a million dollars, lucky for him he's one of the small minority who has a union job with good insurance and he's only about thirty thousand out of pocket.
