http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2014/03/obama-library-search-opens-will-taxpayers-foot-the-bill/The search for the home of President Obamas legacy has officially begun.
Today, the Barack Obama Foundation announced it will start fielding preliminary information from potential cities that will bid to host Obamas presidential library.
Among the cities known to be competing in the bidding process that the Foundation has pledged will be open and accessible, are Chicago, Honolulu and New York City.
The request for qualifications is just the first step in a process that will take over a year to complete.

I think it's down to those two--both would do well; more people would be able to afford to visit a Chicago site, though.

(135,425 posts)I think two is too much, no matter how much I like the POTUS.
I think if they wanted to open a cultural center that, as an aside, acknowledged President Obama's presence and upbringing in Hawaii, that's fine, but there should only be one library that serves as a repository for the POTUS's official papers and memorabilia.

(50,565 posts)The problem here is, Obama's political life revolves around Chicago but his heart belongs to Hawaii. (As opposed to the Antichrist, who was born in Illinois but wouldn't have admitted it at gunpoint, or the Horseman of Famine, Connecticut-born, bred and deported to Texas before he could do significant damage to the state's reputation.) So...since we have the capability to make duplicates of all the informational graphics, why not build the main library in Chicago and a satellite in Honolulu?
