Pot and Politicians

Well, ain't this something. Seems like the conservatives smell dollars in pot legalization and have decided to try to milk that cow. Doesn't this seem sort of contradictory to their once anti-drug approach ?

"Correia's association(a lobbying group), for example, recently formed an alliance with Grover Norquist, the anti-tax activist who runs Americans for Tax Reform. In the fall, Norquist stood at a news conference with a longtime nemesis, Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.), one of the most liberal members of Congress, to promote a measure that would allow marijuana enterprises to deduct business expenses from their taxes.

"Grover's view is government should not pick winners and losers," Correia said. "It is a fairness issue. This resonates with him."

When dozens of owners of cannabis businesses fanned out across the Capitol this month for a day of lobbying, Correia advised them not to dwell on philosophical issues about the war on drugs, but to talk with lawmakers and their staffs about how the federal government was undermining growth of a legitimate industry."

Love that last part "legitimate industry"-Times they are a'changin'

1. I worry that any delays at this point are for the behind the scenes corporate ramp-up.

Meanwhile people are still getting arrested for simple possession, and prison terms for growing their own medicine.

I also wouldn't be surprised if the Republicans propose laws that restrict sales to "licensed" companies. We have to pay close attention to what's going down right now.

ain't that some shit? They will make sure you fail the roadside test no matter how straight you appear, you will get a blood test. You will be found with thc metabolites from that party last month. Not even active thc is needed. It is dui per se. Which means it don't matter what you say, what your defense might be, you are guilty of having illegal drug metabolites in your system and you will be found guilty of dui.

It is total bullshit.

gotta keep those prisons filled, ya know.
