He may be a paranoid schizophrenic, perhaps was sexually abused, tortured - all we can do is speculate, but 14-year-old children in loving homes don't just go murdering their parent(s) over nothing.

Speculate about what?

Why don't you tell me what justification he had for killing his brother? If he was sexually abused or tortured, I'm sure the brother was not responsible.

I don't know what planet you live on, but 14 year old children in loving families DO murder their parents over nothing. It is 2014, and stories like this are becoming more and more common.

Aside from this one?

And why do you ignore my comment that maybe he's a paranoid schizophrenic?

And also, I find your sarcastic snark to be really inappropriate both to the subject matter of this thread, and also not a fitting tone to my comment which was posted in good faith.

He told his brother, who was hiding under the bed, to leave the room. Because he didn't do it, or do it fast enough, he got shot four times with a shotgun then hacked 30 times with a machete.

St. Vinny's is just as traumatized as the rest of us: this is the first time something like this has happened in their transitional housing, and they don't allow guns or machetes.

Apparently the father beat him frequently, because another piece we ran (or is it this one? They blend together...) says he'd plotted and "mentally prepared" for eight months to do this.
