This doesn't make sense..how would Martin know he had a gun

George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch crime captain who shot dead 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, originally told police in a written statement that Martin knocked him down with a punch to the nose, repeatedly slammed his head on the ground and tried to take his gun, a police source told ABC News.
Zimmerman had claimed he had called police about Martin, whom he found suspicious, then went back to his car when Martin attacked him, punching him.
The new information is the most complete version yet of what Zimmerman claims happened on the night of Feb. 26 when he shot and killed the teenager.

(89,275 posts)what was the kid supposed to fucking DO ?
he wasn't a fucking law enforcement officer. Zimmerman seems to think Trayvon should have responded to him as one should an actual official police .

(13,669 posts)Zimmerman didn't have any legal "authority" to detain or question Trayvon.
If someone has a gun, that qualifies as a lethal threat.

(113,100 posts)Are kids taught throughout their childhood and teens to scream and fight when adults approach them close enough to grab them? Yes. They are taught that by responsible parents and law enforcement mentors who train the kids, usually in school settings.
That should be the end of the "But he hit me" defense from the adult.

(1,435 posts)who covered up for him. He had a month to cook up stories. They know when the gun went off after he followed Trayvon.

(13,570 posts)It is clear that Zimmerman was responsible for initiating this incident. That is clear from him using the language he used and attitude that shows when he pursued Trayvon. He used very bad judgement in following and confronting Trayvon. If, as he claims, Trayvon tried to "take his gun", then Trayvon would had to have seen the gun. Was Zimmerman brandishing the weapon? Did Trayvon try to walk away, get restrained by Zimmerman, and then the struggle was on? Where is the medical report to verify Zimmerman's broken nose? Are there photographs? I think Zimmerman aggressively pursued Trayvon after he profiled him, he was also fueled by ego and racist attitudes proven by him referring to Trayvon as an "asshole" and "fucking coon." I think when he confronted Trayvon he was determined to not let Trayvon get away which instigated the struggle and then Zimmerman probably slipped back (it was a wet night), and then when Trayvon was getting the best of him, he pulled his gun and shot him. But, if Trayvon was on top of him, how was he able to shoot Trayvon in the chest? Zimmerman either was not "getting pummeled with Trayvon on top of him" or he was able to throw Trayvon off, get his gun out, and shoot Trayvon in the chest. No matter how you look at this, Zimmerman's mindset upon pursuing Trayvon is clear based on his aggressive and racist statements. He didn't immediately shoot Trayvon which shows it wasn't a case of immediate murder, but what I see here is negligent and reckless homicide, which is manslaughter, a very serious felony.

(2,600 posts)If he was trying to take away his gun then he knew Zimmerman had one and believed his life to be in danger. I still believe it was Trayvon who had the right to invoke the stand your ground law.

(13,921 posts)I mean a punch to the nose and repeatedly slamming into the ground would leave some pretty clear damage as evidence, no?

(8,434 posts)why did he even get out of the SUV?
Oh yeah, he was trying to figure out what street he was on in his own neighborhood. The neighborhood where he is the "captain" of the watch.
I hope he just spins a new portion of this fairy tale everyday. Eventually his lying will trip itself up. He's forgotten the first rule in lying, keep it simple.

(12,287 posts)the kid, he had every right to STAND HIS GROUND and use any means to protect himself. For all the Trayvon knew he was trying to kidnap him or hurt him.
