Wow. Ten years on DU. Whoda thunk...

Tomorrow marks the ten years here for me. All because of the swift-boat assholes and everyone's revulsion of those assholes, did it push me to join DU.

Ten years ago Maryland had a repub governor, and now we have a governor who is finishing up his second term and is considered one of the contenders for the nomination of the Democratic Party for President.

Ten years ago, * was stealing another election

Ten years ago, Hamsters were for Kerry.

Ten years ago, we were still talking about the Dean Scream.

Ten years later, my wife still bitches about the time I spend on this place.

13. My ten year will be here come January.

The first year or two i was here nonstop, nearly every day. I learned to take time and catch my breath over the years and now no longer post like I once did. I still stop in regularly, though.

25. I too joined 10 years ago (minus 2 months)

Ten years ago, Blair was going strong with no apparent end in sight. And was collaborating with the Bushies! 3 years later, we got what I consider our first Labour government in 28 years (Gordon Brown was IMO a flawed Labourite but Blair was a Tory). And only 3 years after that, we reverted back to real Tories.

Ten years ago, I was thus without a political home, as my natural party had been taken over by the Right at its highest levels.

Ten years ago, I watched in horror as the Republicans swiftboated Kerry, and suppressed votes, and as the religious right showed its ugly face.

Ten years ago, DU gave a home to this foreigner, and even provided us with a UK forum; and gave me the opportunity to join in solidarity with opposition to the Right that was taking over both our countries.
