Have you been paying attention to the floods in the area along the Danube?

Say what you will about FB, it does allow people to connect. I made a friend on FB several years ago who lives in the Novi Sad area of Serbia. Serbia received essentially three months worth of rainfall in a 48 hour period of time and is experiencing the worst flooding in 120 years. She has been updating me as possible, and Serbian people are in a great deal of distress right now. This morning I googled for news stories and currently the largest power plant in the nation is threatened and people are fighting to save it. There are also problems with landslides and the dislodging of landmines laid during the conflict there in the 1990s.

My friend and her family are physically safe for now but are quite worried because there is still more water to come downstream toward them. I'm trying to find a reasonable way to contribute a few dollars. Serbia is not a wealthy country and recovery will take some time. Here in Iowa, we had not yet recovered from the great flood of 1993 when we were hit with worse flood in 2008 so I understand how out of control her circumstances may feel.

Just wanted to ask everyone to spare a thought and provide some assistance if you are able to. As I said, I'm still trying to find the best way to contribute some money myself.

Saw a YouTube report that said they got three months of rain in two days. My heart goes out to all who are suffering there.
