Walker Has Promised U.S. Supreme Court Appointment to Judge That Gutted WI Campaign Finance Laws

Corrupt Governor, corrupt legislature, corrupt court system. Welcome to Wisconsin.

http://uppitywis.org/blogarticle/walker-has-promised-us-supreme-court-appointment-judge-gutted-wi

Governor Scott Walker couldn't have drawn a better three judge panel to hear a sweeping case that aimed to gut Wisconsin's campaign finance laws. Judge Diane Sykes, however, was a little too good of a draw.

Considering that Walker had recently and very publicly promised to appoint her to the U.S. Supreme Court if he's elected president, she absolutely should have recused herself from hearing this case. Instead, she not only heard the case, but wrote the decision. Why? Because no one benefitted more than Scott Walker from this decision. Not only will it be a huge boost to his re-election campaign, but as head of the Wisconsin Republican Party it will overwhealmingly benefit them as well.

This is a clear violation of the Code of Conduct for U.S. Judges guidelines for appearances of improriety:

An appearance of impropriety occurs when reasonable minds, with knowledge of all the relevant circumstances disclosed by a reasonable inquiry, would conclude that the judge’s honesty, integrity, impartiality, temperament, or fitness to serve as a judge is impaired. Public confidence in the judiciary is eroded by irresponsible or improper conduct by judges. A judge must avoid all impropriety and appearance of impropriety. This prohibition applies to both professional and personal conduct. A judge must expect to be the subject of constant public scrutiny and accept freely and willingly restrictions that might be viewed as burdensome by the ordinary citizen. Because it is not practicable to list all prohibited acts, the prohibition is necessarily cast in general terms that extend to conduct by judges that is harmful although not specifically mentioned in the Code. Actual improprieties under this standard include violations of law, court rules, or other specific provisions of this Code.

They don't even attempt to hide corruption anymore. We are becoming the Ottoman empire. Baksheesh required for governmental action.

I'm 61 years old. There was corruption when I was a kid. But NOTHING like now. It is in your face corruption now. It isn't even prosecuted unless it has something to do with marijuana or the perpetrator is poor.

Studies has shown that America are in exactly same parallel with rise and mega fall of Roman Empire. It was ruled by extremely wealthy men and women, expanded military forces throughout the empire, gerrymandered the districts for elections, elected their powerful warrior/politician to permanent status as Emperor, and hard labor of peasants and prisoners as slaves. America are doing exactly the same and we ignored history are doomed to repeat it.

Be it Roman, Seleucid, Inca, Spanish, British, Han, Mongol, or American.

The road to power is paved with the bodies of others. The fortresses of power are built with the broken dreams of others. The throne of power is crafted from your compromised morality.

in ways we haven't even imagined. Roberts will redeem himself among his minions for not striking down Obamacare by ruling for Hobby Lobby in the made up religious persecution case.

Elections matter! That's why the Republicans stole 2000 and 2004. With the Supreme Court majority, they continue their anti democracy, anti worker, anti women, anti minority and anti constitutional agenda.

but if elections are being stolen and elections count...unless we have a way to prove who we voted for (a receipt would be great) it doesn't matter.
No change in the oligarchy and no democracy in sight.

One that says that if a Federal judge, including a member of the Supreme Court, commits an ethics violation they and their immediate families go to prison for life.
