Is there any reason why that combination of facts shouldn't make my head explode?
Why would Al Gore be THAT much of a wuss? You'd think he would remember that politeness cost him the presidency.

(425 posts)but KO could be much bigger than he is today if he took the bull by the horns and recognizes this as the opportunity that it is.

(6,113 posts)Cinemax, Showtime, or Starz could benefit from a franchise with parallels to HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher". Olbermann is a good match for the demographic of all three outlets.

(154,021 posts)Will keep it by the way. I enjoy the programing. But Keith has been canned at ESPN, fox, msnbc and Current. At this point he needs some serios introspection.

I would not say spitzer is a mealy non fighter.
The show was fine today. Slightly different format. It's Friday, so msnbc was first. I turned to Current after Rachel.

(2,286 posts)perhaps one should consider the problem may lie with Keith. Rachel speaks up loudly and consistently and she still has a job.

I like Keith, but he really needs to seriosly think what is going on.

(31,706 posts)I've had the pleasure of meeting KO a long time ago and have enjoyed his work over the years. I, too, have heard many, many stories from his ESPN, Faux and MSNBC days of him being an asshole and difficult to work with. When he started to get ratings at MSNBC he was "insufferable" as one acquaintance told me...management put up with him as he was the person who helped grow the network but he not only pissed off detractors there but some of his biggest supporters. A shame as one of the biggest rules on the broadcast world is no one is irreplaceable at a major network.
I suspect we'll hear a lot more of this situation in the days and weeks to come...and while I'm sorry to see KO off the air again, he blew this thing big time. He had a chance to build and mold a network...few people have that opportunity. Instead it turned into an ego battle and it'll hurt both KO and Current.
While broadcasting is an ego business...there's a limit to where the talent begins and the bullshit ends. KO has reached that bridge too many times and I'd think any future employer would take a long hard look before hiring him. It's sad but there are many highly talented broadcasters this has happened to. As they say in the biz "the beach is full". I suspect it will be a long time before we see KO on a teevee anchor role.
