As a Mormon, Romney believes he could become God of a planet

which is taught in the Mormon religion. So, is it relevant to wonder if he becomes president of the US, that God complex might kick in a little early? Not trying to put down the Mormon religion, just asking a question similar to the question about John Kennedy and the Pope and Michelle Bachmann saying women should submit to their husbands. Clearly the Mormon religion says Mormons can one day rule over a planet as a God so I think it's a relevant question to ponder.

From Wikipedia:

Main article: Exaltation (Latter Day Saints)

In Mormonism, the goal of each adherent is to achieve "exaltation" via the atonement of Jesus, as a result of which they inherit all the attributes of God the Father, including godhood. Mormons believe that these people will become gods and goddesses in the afterlife, and will have "all power, glory, dominion, and knowledge".[5] Moreover, Mormons teach that exalted people will live with their earthly families and also "have spirit children".[6] Their cosmic posterity will continue to grow forever.

A documentary produced by conservative evangelicals in the early 80's. Eye opening stuff.

The Anti-Defamation League of the B'nai B'rith publicly presented their concerns of the film which they described as "Mormon bashing" and "invidious and defamatory".[11] Rhonda M. Abrams, Regional Director stated the following:

I sincerely hope that people of all faiths will similarly repudiate The God Makers as defamatory and untrue, and recognize it for what it truly represents — a challenge to the religious liberty of all.[12][13]
The NCCJ committee sent a letter to Concerned Christians on December 5, 1983 which stated, among other things, that

The film does not fairly portray the Mormon Church, Mormon history, or Mormon belief. It makes extensive use of half-truths, faulty generalizations, sensationalism, and is not reflective of the true spirit of Mormon faith. We find particularly offensive the emphasis that Mormonism is some sort of subversive plot — a danger to the community, a threat to the institution of marriage, and destructive to the mental health of teenagers. We are of the opinion that the film relies heavily on appeals to fear, prejudice and unworthy human emotions.[17]

The film's creator has criticized the NCCJ for allegedly failing to contact Jeremiah Films, which produced The God Makers for the purpose of elucidating claimed errors and prevarications in the film.[18]

Truer words are rarely spoken. Consider this fact--in spite of all their indoctrination, the Mormons continue to have gay sons and daughters. Unwelcome in Utah, Idaho, and Arizona, they flee to California where we welcome them.

So far so good. Then the Mormon church hunts them down to persecute them with Proposition Hate.

I'm not forgiving that ever.

I grew up Mormon and I am gay - well aware of the churches history with gays.

Edit to add link:

The makers of the God Makers are anti-Muslim, anti-gay, anti-Freemason born again "Christians".

An article in the paper the other day really got to me. It was reporting on a recent survey that stated over 60% of high school honor roll level students admitted that they cheated with homework and with tests. The reporters were shocked and deeply disappointed. They cried out, "Where did the schools go wrong?"

The answer was beyond their understanding. You see, the schools went wrong when they removed every root of Christianity and Christian ethics from the system. Instead, children have been taught that there are no absolutes. Everything is OK. You only have self to answer for.

That's when the gay and lesbian groups came into the schools. That's when students involved in Witchcraft and Satanism openly brought their once secret practices into the classrooms and hallways. That's when the Bibles went out and the pornography came in, when the Ten Commandments came down from the walls and the gay and lesbian help line numbers went up (at the same time Christian help line numbers are forbidden). What did they expect would happen?

it's a slam from page one, but it has a lot of irrefutable data--quotes from Mormon documents, and so on. There are far better slams against the Mormons, from people who aren't trying to sell you something out of the other hand.

Have you recently visited the letters section of the Salt Lake Tribune? It amazes me how much the climate has changed in Salt Lake City. People seem to be far more outspoken since my days there, which was the 1960s. At least in the Trib, most of the letter writers are aware that the Church is generating a vast reservoir of ill will with their Neanderthal practices.

I have sometimes wondered if he wrote the book of Mormon as a kind of Sci-Fi thing and began to wonder if it might actually be believable? When he realized people thought it was true in the same way many thought the 'War of the Worlds' was true, then perhaps decided to run with it and gather as many wives as he could.

other reason. yes, politicians lie but they still mostly ahve something you know they believe in and why they are running.

but the way Romney switches positions on any issues and so easily .

also his perosnality type. usually types like him don't run for President. i'm not saying he has to be very charismatic but he seems totally uncomfortable.
