(1,832 posts)The killer was not white, he is the stepson of the director. His mom is Moroccan in origin. I may be incorrect, there is a lot of confusion swirling around. I have now heard he is the son and the stepson.

(101,352 posts)That says his mother was Asian (which, for someone born in the UK, will normally mean ancestry from the Indian subcontinent).

(1,832 posts)I had heard both ways on the mother, but also read he was considered Eurasian, by himself and his family.

(36,988 posts)Fact: At least 32 school shootings and/or school-related acts of violence have been committed by those taking or withdrawing from psychiatric drugs resulting in 164 wounded and 76 killed (in other school shootings, information about their drug use was never made publicneither confirming or refuting if they were under the influence of prescribed drugs). The most important fact about this list, is that these are only cases where the information about their psychiatric drug use was made public. (See full list below)
The below list includes individuals documented to have been under the influence of psychiatric drugs and not only includes mass shootings, but the use of knives, swords and bombs. 22 international drug regulatory agency warnings cite side effects including mania, violence, psychosis and even homicidal ideation.
List and more:

(4,631 posts)I remember way back when some drugs made people paranoid, but never homicidal. It's possible I lived a sheltered life. I grew up believing that it is possible some people are just bad with, or without any drugs.

Common brand name antidepressants include Paxil, Prozac, Zoloft, Celexa, Luvox, Wellbutrin, Cymbalta, Effexor, Lexapro, Elavil, Remeron, Strattera and Sarafem.
There have been 134 drug regulatory agency warnings from eleven countries (United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Russia, Italy, Denmark and Germany) and the European Union warning that antidepressant drugs cause side effects. These include the following (note that some warnings cite more than one side effect, so the list below may not be equal to the total number of warnings):
37 warnings on antidepressants causing suicide/risk/attempts
30 warnings on antidepressants causing heart problems
21 warnings on antidepressants causing birth defects
20 warnings on antidepressants causing Serotonin Syndrome
10 warnings on antidepressants causing hostility/violence/aggression

will attack that source.
I think you're right and the source is right but too many are caught up in the guilt by association thing. I know because I have been flamed many times for linking to them.
Here's a link that people can't argue with - and it contains the original story source

Fox- and Douglas Kennedy-the son of Robert Kennedy were on to it (before they decided to shut up about it)
Michael Moore on "drugs":
It says right on the Federally mandated warning labels that suicide and aggressive behaviour are side effects

(2,805 posts)Say he was being treated by several therapists. They called police on him when they saw some of his videos a few weeks ago. A social worker also called police on him last week. I think he may have been mentally ill.

(4,631 posts)More often than not, this kind of person is identified as one that will kill and there is nothing the law will do to stop the inevitable attempt to harm others. It's harder to understand if you have not been a victim of one of these killers and their attempts.

(90,061 posts)A parent of a college student suspected of a shooting rampage in Isla Vista near UC Santa Barbara had become concerned about videos he was posting and alerted police a month ago, according to a source close to the family.
The source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the family of Elliot Rodger made the report to police last month. It was unclear which videos they saw because Rodger appeared to have posted several on YouTube in which he talks about his alienation and threatens violence.
