Arrested as soon as he stepped off his property? If not for the fact that he is a white racist bastard the government would have already dropped a MOAB on his property and turned it into a parking lot.

Bundy is in continuing violation of various court orders since 1998

November 3, 1998 - U.S. District Court for Nevada orders Bundy to remove his livestock from the Bunkerville allotment of federal land before Nov. 3, 1998. He also is ordered to pay trespass damages to the government

... IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Bundy is permanently enjoined from trespassing on the New Trespass Lands. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the United States is entitled to protect the New Trespass Lands against this trespass, and all future trespasses by Bundy. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Bundy shall remove his livestock from the New Trespass Lands within 45 days of the date hereof, and that the United States is entitled to seize and remove to impound any of Bundy’s cattle that remain in trespass after 45 days of the date hereof. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the United States is entitled to seize and remove to impound any of Bundy’s cattle for any future trespasses, provided the United States has provided notice to Bundy under the governing regulations of the United States Department of the Interior.
US v Bundy
9 July 2013

October 8, 2013 - U.S. District Court for Nevada finds that in spite of its July order, Bundy continues to graze his cattle illegally on public lands ... U.S. District Judge Larry Hicks gives the government authority to enforce the July order and permanently prohibits Bundy from trespassing on the former Bunkerville Allotment.

The old saws of 'Possession is 9/10ths of the law' and 'Rights not defended cease to exist' could apply here.

The government didn't push him off in 1998 and they didn't this year. I don't think they will. They made a move to enforce the last court order and failed. Since then they have not arrested him during his forays off the ranch, either.

I feel like this is something like what is going on in Ukraine. The gunmen rule whatever area they gather in and there's no central authority or will to stop them. I know the analogy is not that good, but it just has that kind of feel to me.

They government identified that guy who was aiming his rifle. IIRC, and I hope I don't, nothing was done.

How do think that the govern, ent can possibly take any remedies beyond court orders which are not being obeyed? Or has the guy been paying his fees and no one knows it?

The ESA was not enforced for the preservation of the desert tortoise, most of his cattle are still there. A law abiding person would shake at getting served those papers. He's not going to obey the law, he's lawless.

A lot of the middle part of the country from the Gulf to Canada is breaking every social contract and defying government and common sense. I read some years back that the trends were for a new nation to be formed from Texas all the way up into Canada. The Canadians are destroying the highway connecting the east and west. American interstate roads are being privatized.

The koches hace won through their money most legislatures and governor offices in a wide swath of states. I don't feel good about this.

Just sayin'

The matter has been adjudicated: he's been trespassing, and he's been under court order for over fifteen years to cease and desist. His response was to enlarge the trespass, and he lost by summary judgment on that a year ago.

The courts will be displeased on officially noticing that his armed gang obstructed the execution of a lawful order. And the BLM has sought FBI help. In addition, he owes considerable money.

It's not that uncommon for such cases to develop slowly. It might save some time in court, avoiding endless arguments about whether the court took into account any potential misunderstandings of the situation, whether the court took into account the difficulties of making alternative arrangements, and so.

In the end, he may be somewhat surprised to discover the range of options the Federal government finds for future action against him

To recover the cost of tax money he has ripped off then I will consider the bare minimum having been done. If I didn't pay my taxes the IRS would do nothing less to me. Why do I have to pay for rich flickers like this to mooch off the rest of us who have no political power?

Have every Tea Party supporter sign up immediately and throw the full funding of the Koch brothers into it. Because freedom.

Tea party lost super tuesday primaries this year. That has got to hurt. I hope they are just seething with resentment.
