The fiance, a U.S. Air Force sergeant, was killed at the home on the 5900 block of Woodhall Street. The suspect fled the scene and was arrested about three miles away, at East Seven Mile Road and Mac Crary Avenue, Detroit police spokeswoman Nicole Kirkwood said.
She said the son, who is mentally ill and was off his medications, fired the shots during an argument. The mother was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
