About this whole MRA thing,

I had no idea such a thing existed. For Christ's sake why?

Me, I'm the luckiest human alive. Born white, male, straight into a traditional middle class family. I get paid 30% more than women, only twice in my long life have I endured unwanted advances and the dry cleaner charges me 40% less for a shirt than they do a blouse! Why on God's green earth would I think I needed some support group or that any other white straight male might need one?

It's all just nucking futz . . .

The truth is that as white men have to share more power with women and minorities they feel like they are losing power. Some of them also had an outsized assessment of what they were capable of, and assume that if they aren't getting what they deserve it's because they are being held back. So they are losing power and feel like they are being held back, and along comes a men's rights organization to tell them who the enemy is.

That doesn't justify it in the slightest; thinking about the issues in any serious ways reveals the truth; white males actually have it pretty darn good. But it is understandable.

since their wages were inflated for years. Now the manufacturing jobs are gone and the white collar jobs are starting to follow them and they're living with women who might make as much or more than they do. No longer can they duck the shitwork around the house by saying their financial contribution is greater and they don't like it.

While they did have some legitimate gripes about custody after divorce, most of the groups are full of men who are bitter that women aren't flopping down in front of them 24/7, eager to service them.

Still, most men are feeling oppressed. They just need to realize that rich white men are the oppressors, not women.

It could be that some of what they guy (dumb-asses) feel is misplaced anger over losing wages. It's been said a lot that the rich are good at diverting attention away from themselves - there's the cartoon about the rich guy taking 11 of twelve cookies. Maybe this is the result of that kind of manipulation.

If so, the MRA wankers need to get a fucking clue.

... and don't feel your rights are being taken away when the same rights are extended to others.

i am going to guess you do the same thing I do when confronted by this garbage (I mean a hate group of any kind) ... you remove yourself from the situation and don't think about it because "they are clearly nuts on the fringe"

My thoughts are that the men of DU are by and large a progressive bunch that don't feel any kinship with MRAs or any other hate groups ... unfortunately there is a minority of men here, that post prolifically, and clearly have issue with anything feminine ... oddly, the same bunch seems to take issue with any talk of racism. Again, they appear to be a minority
