Lawmakers To Obama: Shinseki Must Go

Susan Davis, USA TODAY 4:31 p.m. EDT May 29, 2014

WASHINGTON — Confidence in Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki disintegrated further Thursday on Capitol Hill, where a rising chorus of lawmakers in both parties said he should resign and let new leadership address systemic problems at VA medical centers.

The disapproval was most potent in the Senate because the chamber would have to confirm a new secretary if Shinseki resigns.

Support among President Obama's Democratic allies dwindled throughout the day as five additional Democrats — Sens. Mark Warner and Tim Kaine of Virginia, Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich of New Mexico, and Jeff Merkley of Oregon — joined five of their Democratic colleagues in calling for his resignation.

Of the ten Democrats so far opposing Shinseki, eight are facing re-election this November. Eleven Republicans, including Arizona Sen. John McCain, have also called for his resignation.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said the president is waiting for the full investigation to conclude before determining who should be held accountable. He stopped short of saying whether the president continues to have full confidence in his secretary.

That goes for Republicans and Democrats alike. If they're going to blame Shinseki as being the problem, they must always concede they are too. So, please, resign. All of 'em.

read the list of names of every Congress critter who has voted against the VA since 2009.

In Feb, the GOP filibustered a bill that would add 27 new clinics - start with them.

and the VA will improve. Removing Shinseki won't fix the problem.

It's the incompetent underlings beneath him that don't give a crap about humans, except when they are an embryo. Get republicans out of these lifetime civil service jobs where they do nothing but waste taxpayers money with their presence.
