Detroit business owner fears robbery, fires gun, hits and kills bystander

http://www.freep.com/article/20140530/NEWS01/305300181/detroit-fatal-shooting

A Detroit business owner was in custody Friday evening after he opened fire on a man who he thought was trying to rob him, but missed and instead shot another man who later died, police say.

Woody said a man inside the store was making gestures and movements that led the store owner to believe he was about to be robbed.

“He drew his valid and legal CPL weapon and fired one round,” Woody said. “The suspect, the intended target, ducked, and the bullet went through the window, striking a man on the sidewalk who was the unintended target.”

What is wrong with holding a person at gun point until the police can arrive on scene? I hope he spends a lot of time in prison so he can think about his quick trigger finger....
