The November elections are just five months away and the current atmosphere is going to be challenging for Democrats.
Council for a Livable World has worked for more than 50 years to elect candidates to the United States Senate and House of Representatives who are dedicated to progressive national security policies and the eventual elimination of all nuclear weapons. In that time, the Council has helped to elect 131 U.S. Senators.
This list includes former and present Senators such as Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Edward Kennedy, Barbara Boxer and Elizabeth Warren.
When you donate to candidates endorsed by Council for a Livable World, you know that your donation goes directly to the candidates.
Wont you help elect Alison Lundergan Grimes in Kentucky, Jeanne Shaheen in New Hampshire and Mark Udall in Colorado?
It is absolutely critical that we prevent Republicans from gaining control of the Senate in November.
For the past year and a half, the Democratic-held Senate has prevented horrendous legislation passed by the House of Representatives from becoming law.
Will that still be true in 2015?
It will be if Alison Lundergan Grimes (D), the challenger to GOP leader Mitch McConnell, is elected. Though many believe McConnell cant be defeated, polls show that Kentuckians are ready for a change. Grimes is a bright and dynamic candidate with fresh ideas about how to make Washington work better.
Please consider a contribution of $5, $10 or $25 to her campaign: https://livableworld.org/support/candidates/grimes_shaheen_udall/?mobile=1
It will be if we can elect two more great candidates:
Jeanne Shaheen is the kind of Senator we can't afford to lose. She's been a leader on women's issues, foreign affairs (including helping to ratify the New START treaty with Russia) and more. In a blast from the past, former Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown (R) has crossed the border to challenge her and will be backed by right wing SuperPACs.
Mark Udall (D) suddenly found himself a tight race when national Republicans convinced Rep. Cory Gardner (R) to enter the race, backed by Koch Brothers money. Udall has been a staunch supporter of nuclear arms reductions and strong non-proliferation programs. He is one of the key Senate leaders working to rein in NSA spying on Americans.
We are asking you to contribute now and show these three Senate candidates that we are with them all the way to November.
The struggle to control the Senate will be won by a very narrow margin. Every race is critical, and your contributions could make the difference.
Between now and Election Day, we're counting on your support. Thanks for all you do.
Sincerely,
Michael Douglas
