Sources have confirmed the Obamas purchased real estate in Asheville, NC. The White House has not yet confirmed.
It seems all the bookmakers sending the Obamas to New York City or back to Chicago after the end of the Presidents second term are wrong by a few thousand miles.
A source close to Wall St. Cheat Sheet has confirmed that the Obama family have purchased property in the city of Asheville in North Carolina as a post-Presidency residence. A call to get an official confirmation from the White House wasnt immediately returned.

(28,784 posts)I have family members who have a farm there too. The owner of the Jacksonville Jaquars has a place there, as well. That area is where a lot of wealthy people have second homes - so I'd imagine that's what the place will be for them, as well.

Who knows????
Ashville is a very nice little city but I'd be surprised if they moved there. My grandmother was from Asheville.... loved going there to see her family.

(14,971 posts)The Wall St. Cheat Sheet, a popular financial news website headquartered in Asheville, posted a story yesterday saying that sources had confirmed the Obamas were moving to Asheville post-president. They first posted last week that the first family was looking, and then that a purchase was confirmed Monday.
The site admits the White House has not confirmed the rumor. There are no records with the countys Register of Deeds office with an Obama attached to them, and Cattleya Gaines, deputy Register of Deeds, said they had no other evidence of a sale.
White House reporter Paul Brandus tweeted out later on Monday that the White House denies that President and Mrs. Obama have bought a retirement home in Asheville, NC (they do like it there).
