Any polling this early is utterly tainted by name recognition.
That said, I think many people who still believe in democracy are worried that the primaries are going to be a fait accompli. Instead of a contest, it will be a coronation. After all, it seems that Wall Street and corporate America believe that they are the king (or queen) makers and that all we can do is choose between two candidates who have been thoroughly pre-screened for corporate friendliness.
Meanwhile, any dissent once the primaries begin will be discouraged by partisans on the grounds that it just weakens our candidate for the general election.
