by Evan McMurry | 10:51 am, June 22nd, 2014
On This Week with George Stephanopoulos Sunday morning, Former Vice President Dick Cheney responded to a weeks worth of scathing and bipartisan criticism of his Wall Street Journal op-ed arguing for more American involvement in the crisis in Iraq, telling Jon Karl that relitigating the original 2003 invasion was distracting from contemporary threats.
If we spend our time debating what happened eleven or twelve years ago, were going to miss the threat that is growing and that we do face, Cheney said. Were missing the boat, we dont understand that nature of the threat, and were unwilling to deal with it.

(83,927 posts)I guess the Dickster forgot all about those fueled planes crashing into the Twin towers and the Pentagon. He only remembers tickets and box cutters. Oh and Dick...that HAPPENED on YOUR WATCH!
Thanks Cali_Democrat, that man makes my blood boil!

(60,010 posts)WE are NOT debating anything that happened 12 years ago.
We KNOW and remember all those years.
The only person bringing it up is YOU.

(7,719 posts)Cheney needs to shut up and fade away. He had his day and he blew it. Of course, I'm sure he's worried about his Halliburton holdings in Iraq, but he'll be okay without it. I'm sure he feels a couple of thousand lives is an okay price to keep him from losing money.

(9,186 posts)You have been called a War Criminal by foreign courts for your participation in starting this atrocity 12 years ago. How many innocent dead now?
We have arrested people recently who were Concentration-camp guards during WW-2. They didn't start WW-2 but they participated in atrocities. And, history ensures they are held accountable. YOU started the Iraq war you lying coward...Maybe it will catch up to you and Georgie-boy, and Rumsfeld, and Rice and Bolton. You may face a trial you lucky bastard. You won't be "renditioned" to Gitmo and tortured simply because you are suspected of being bad...
I'm not holding my breath. But you are dead wrong Dick. We need to debate this continually.

(82,849 posts)But that would be lookin' backwards to the past, instead of forward to the future. And it would criminalize politics. And something else, but I sort of forget what. What's important is that we get these criminals back in public, acting like their crimes never happened. "Oh, that'll never happen; those guys are washed up. Nobody will ever take these guys seriously again."
Yeah. Right.
