Joe Scarborough, Morning Joe:
Nobody thinks Romneys going to win. Lets just be honest. Can we just say this for everybody at home? Let me just say this for everybody at home. The Republican establishment Ive yet to meet a single person in the Republican establishment that thinks Mitt Romney is going to win the general election this year. They wont say it on TV because theyve got to go on TV and they dont want people writing them nasty emails.

(95,337 posts)I remember back in 2004 there was alot of 'Anyone But Bush'. Kerry was not a favorite of the Online posting crowd but managed to win the nomination. Personally I liked Kerry but I saw the "Anyone but Bush" chant happening which honestly, just makes Kerry sound like "Well he wasn't what we wanted but I guess it'll have to do". Lake of enthusiasm for your top candidate always hurts not just that candidate but elections downstream.
Well I'm already seeing the "Anyone but Obama" out there - Sarah Palin did that chant on her stint with the "Today" show. Really? I mean it's about 99% there that Romney is going to win the nomination and if Palin was really that enthusiastic about Romney she would have been praising him left & right. There's going to be alot of "Anyone but Obama" chanting going on this season because the Tea Party does not like him but are going to be stuck with him.
Having said that - we should still campaign like we're 2 points behind else we'll get lazy and could see this one slip away - that's not a good thing EVER!

(1,362 posts)We live in a criminal country, the elections are rigged, the markets are rigged and TV is especially rigged propaganda for the sole purpose of selling people a bunch of crap they don't need.
The entire GOP show is pure BS, it's not real.

(12,977 posts)The law of Democratic election strategy these days is that you not only have to win -- you also have to build in a substantial cushion against GOP election fraud.

(11,495 posts)What they want is to try and keep control of the Houses and they hope they can take control of the Senate. They don't want the WH because they want to wait till Obama fix the mess Bush and his republicans got us into, then in 2016 they "think" they can come in after things are better and win the WH and congress. Like in 2008, they know they can't win this year, so they are putting up a "sacrifice" in the form of one Mitt Romeny just like they did with their last sacrifice with McCain.
What they don't seem to understand is they have alienated a vast majority of americans with their supper right tea party agenda, and they have lost the Latino vote, pissed off public workers, first responders, teachers, vets, seniors, and women. All they have left is the brain dead base, tea party idiots, and the racist whites, and that won't be enough to win for Mitt. When Mitt tries to go back to the center to gain the "sane" republican voters, which I think is to late, he will alienate the other far right voters like the tea party, and then what is he going to do? If the right wing voters don't turn out to vote for Mitt, it will also hurt the down ticket candidates for the republican party. The right is hoping on a miracle, and it isn't going to happen.
