Ten Years After..

How will history judge President Barack Obama?

In my opinion...

History will record that he inherited the presidency of a nation that was deeply divided by wars. The people had extremely high expectations that he would fix what went wrong under George W Bush and the Republicans in the first eight years of the decade. However, in the final analysis, they were disappointed with his results.

History will record that he did indeed inherit the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression and some might say that he saved the capitalist system in America. Others might say he saved capitalism at the expense of Main Street Americans? Also, they will record that it took six years for the economy to return to the point where businesses were comfortable in re-hiring workers.

Also, his major accomplishment, the ACA (Obamacare), will have mixed results. Those that were helped by the law will sing its praises and others will continue to vilify the legislation. In the final analysis, the insurance companies will maintain more control than ever over the healthcare of Americans and the costs will continue to be too exorbitant.

And, although he promised to be a "uniter" and bring the nation together, his Presidency will be recorded as one of the most divided. They will also record that the Republican Party refused to work with him on anything and did not consider his two popular vote elections as legitimate. They successfully blocked him at nearly every turn. In the end, the partisan divisions were bitter and the nation did not feel they were going in the right direction.

History will show that the job of President was not easy for the first African-American President as the underlying racial tensions flared up under his two terms. The nation has a long ways to go before the dream of equality for all is attained.

Just my opinion...

A guy in Tunisia set himself on fire and the Mediterranean region blew up.

I've been meaning to put together a post on how Obama, as you stated, inherited ( he did run for the job) the worst situation ever but has faced an incredible string of no-win situations that are unprecedented in their size, number, and the lack of a break in them. Also, a toxic legislature and a media operation so blind with rage that they attack him for getting a POW home and turn their believers against children ..... that only covers the brief period when they aren't just flat out creating hoaxes.

And, in my opinion, most of these "no-win" situations were brought about by the actions of the previous 8 years, the invasions, the bombings, Guantanamo, terrorist groups, etc....

To a large part of the population W never existed or they have been told that none of this had anything to do with him.

at explaining and tying together events of history for the American people. Everyone seems to be content to judge everything in 4-year cycles. If it happened during your 4 years, you are responsible or you get the credit? There are no external factors.
