'I know he saved my grandson’s life': Retired officer uses Heimlich maneuver on choking boy

Something told retired police officer Norris Stolp Sr., to attend a picnic Monday and an old buddy is glad he did.
Stolp, 81, sprang into action when the grandson of his former colleague Forth Carmicheal, 78, began choking on a hamburger at a picnic held by the Omaha Police Welfare and Benefit Association.
Stolp said he heard a woman scream and then ask if anyone knew the Heimlich maneuver.

He turned and saw that 11-year-old Douglas Carmicheal Jr. was choking. Stolps 31 years of experience on the Omaha Police Department kicked in immediately, he said.
