TSA PreCheck. Apparently, I have been cleared without applying & without being a frequent flyer.

When I was shuttled through the metal detector line instead of the nudie-scan line, I noticed my ticket said TSA PreCheck and I had no clue what that meant. The line was short so I had no time to remove my belt and boots but they were waving me through so I said that I needed to remove them first and they told me to go on through anyway. I pulled up my pant leg to reveal the big ol' brass O-ring on my boots but they continued to wave me on through.

So, I walked through the metal detector and, of course, my boots set off the detector. And, of course, I was instructed to remove my boots. And then came the wand and then came the hand swab for bomb material.

I was confuzled. First, how did I end up on TSA PreCheck? (And separated from the rest of my family who have flown just as often as I have.) And, why, when I indicated that my boots were sure to set off the metal detector why was I waved on through and then directed to remove the boots and swabbed?

Also, on the way back home, my TSA PreCheck ticket wouldn't scan so I had to go through the nudie-scan line in which I observed...

1) a very frail near unable to walk woman directed to leave her wheelchair and walk through nudie-scan

2) A very tall and very mature looking 12 year old escape all scrutiny whatsoever including removing her shoes. That is, she was allowed to bypass both the nudie-scan and metal detection.

Oh, and Phoenix Airport is a shit-hole. An apt shithole for a shithole city.

Last time I was in the States, I was Pre from Chicago to New York, from Portland (Maine) to New York, and from New York to Dallas, but not from Dallas to Washington. Go figure.

I have to have a series of tests when I get back, including a CT. I should have asked for a copy of the scan for my doc.

I have no idea why. They said I didn't have to bother with taking off my shoes, or I might not have known. It did make me wonder how people are prechecked.
