(36,470 posts)The plastic bottles are a nightmare for our environment. Get a filter system & put your water in a glass or metal container instead of an unhealthy plastic one & fuck Nestle.

(2,282 posts)"Well Well Well" by Danny O'Keefe
The man who stole the water will swim forevermore
But he'll never reach the land on that golden shore
That faint white light will haunt his heart
Till he's only a memory lost in the dark
Dig a hole in the ground all the way down to hell
Till there ain't no more water in the well, well, well
When you're down on your knees with nothing left to sell
Try diggin a little deeper in the well, well, well
The water used to run so clear and so fresh
Now Lord it's poisoned they no longer sell fish
The man sells us back our water like we're fish on line
Gonna turn our blood into his wine
Dig a hole in the ground all the way down to hell
Till there ain't no more water in the well, well, well
When you're down on your knees with nothing left to sell
Try diggin a little deeper in the well well well
Take care of your body like you care for your soul
Don't you dig yourself into a hole
Until you've paid the price you don't know the worth
The air and water, the fire and earth
Dig a hole in the ground all the way down to hell
Till there ain't no more water in the well, well, well
When you're down on your knees with nothing left to sell
Try diggin a little deeper in the well well well

(32,139 posts)My personal little protest.
These vipers need to be defanged. Most importantly, we need to get their corrupt purchased politicians, masquerading as the people's representatives, out of our governments.

(149,625 posts)I've been doing that too.
I first heard about that issue from La Leche League, the breastfeeding group. They really opened my eyes to how evil Nestle really is.

(149,625 posts)And you know Nestle chose them just for that reason: that they would be exempt from such disclosures.
Damn it.

(130,914 posts)and Nestle certainly choose them for that reason. Shocking it's not monitored. More:
'Heres more from the Desert Sun:
Theyre entitled to use the groundwater basin, too. Everyone is. But its just a shame that this water is not being used locally. Its being exported, said David Luker, general manager of the Desert Water Agency. He said DWAs position has been that the Morongo tribe should have to report its water use just like other entities.
I dont believe theres any way to force them to fork over groundwater pumping information unless theres discovery in a lawsuit, Luker said. But he said the level of concern about the bottling plant in the area doesnt seem to have grown to a degree that leads to such action.'

(5,720 posts)It's called "Bottled and Sold: The Story Behind Our Obsession with Bottled Water" by Peter H. Gleick. Chapter 1 is available for reading online and deals with Nestle and the Mononga band and their water. Well worth a read.

(2,243 posts)I live nearby and enjoyed hikes to this very spot and always admired the surface water, which
all the animals strongly depend on. Along with the ongoing drought, the water has dwindled, making it that more precious. Stick an eight inch pipe to suck it dry and there's nothing left at ground zero. These springs are lifelines to the creatures who dwell there and have been leaving the mountains starved out of their minds.
