Todd Akin Was 'Assassinated' By The Media, Just Like Joseph McCarthy

Earlier today, former Rep. Todd Akin told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he identified with the late communist-hunting Sen. Joseph McCarthy as someone who was also “assassinated by the media.” Akin apparently liked his new talking point because he repeated it this afternoon in an interview on the “Steve Malzberg Show.”

When Todd Akin was running for the Senate, he said if a woman were "legitimately raped," (his words, not mine,) the woman's body can shut down the reproductive process so they won't get pregnant.

He made a halfassed "apology," which he has now retracted.
