Is modern "conservatism" on the decline?

Are people getting tired of the dominant political movement of the last 35 years?

Chris Mathews quoted a very interesting poll on his TV show. The people in the poll were asked if they believed that (paraphrasing) our system of government, politically and economically, was on the side of people like them? The majority of both Parties, 55% of Democrats and 54% of Repubs, did not feel the government was on their side.

Is our nation ready for a more progressive course? Are they finally fed up with the lies and deceptions and propaganda of the so-called "conservative" movement? Has the Tea Party finally exposed them for the fraud that they are?

...the Tea Party, or conservatives in general mean much of a damn thing when losing the Senate this coming November is a definite possibility and the idea of regaining the House is treated as a pipe dream.

Whatever decline or death may or may not be happening, it's happening way too slowly.

From the poll, the right wing meme that government doesn't work has a majority in both parties.

Of course, repubs and Democrats feel the government isn't on their side for totally opposite reasons. That is still good news for the conservatives, since the more Democrats that feel the system fails them and they are powerless to change it, the fewer Democrats will vote. republicans, on the other hand, will just vote to move farther right.

The Democrats' job is to get the people to connect the dots that it has been the rightward lurch of our policies since reagan that has made their lives worse. And, the only way to remedy that is to vote Democratic.

(Well, we knew "trickle down" was a con job by a bunch of rich grifters but they didn't)

Their foreign policy has us sunk in two wars we can't seem to get out of.

Their USSC justices are removing civil rights from citizens and conferring them all on corporations in the worst power grab this country has ever seen.

Their paranoia has destroyed other civil liberties at a breakneck pace. Habeas corpus is still a relic of the past.

People are disgusted enough by the religious wackos that young folks who are believers won't identify as Christians since they don't want to be lumped in with such raging, ignorant assholes.

All we're waiting for is a voice in the wilderness, somebody with enough charisma to sell progressivism to the masses and manage to elude getting whacked by the far right.

Reagan is still dead as a doornail. It's time his policies also follow him to the grave. It will be too late for me and other old Boomers. Let's hope the Millennials see a fairer world than we did.
