The Guardian: Unguarded comments suggest Kerry frustration at civilian toll in Gaza

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jul/20/unguarded-comments-kerry-frustration-gaza-civilian-toll

The secretary of state, John Kerry, on Sunday appeared to criticise Israel’s claims about the targeted scope of its attacks on Gaza, as a open microphone caught him talking to an aide ahead of a TV interview.

“It’s a hell of a pinpoint operation, it’s a hell of a pinpoint operation,” Kerry, who was appearing on Fox News Sunday as part of a tour of all five main US talkshows, said to an aide on the phone, in a frustrated tone.

Israel has launched air strikes, artillery fire and a ground operation in Gaza. According to health officials in the Palestinian territory, 340 people have been killed, nearly 2,400 wounded and tens of thousands displaced in 12 days of fighting.

Ahead of his interview with Fox News Sunday, Kerry said: “We’ve got to get over there. Thank you, John. I think, John, we ought to go tonight. I think it’s crazy to be sitting around.”

Well, no doubt the RW fashists are going to make a full story of this.....EVEN IF IT COMPLETLY RIGHT!!!!! F...Faux Noises....; Its obviously they had kind of cornered him, and put on the mic in order to catch this private remarks. Completly disgusting. And now they are ought to make a " scandal" because he spoke not only privately, but fairly, and....even from the heart. Doesnt have politicians the right to express some humanity at this Gaza slaughter without beeing sticked as so called " Hamas supporters".... ?????

The Fox host Chris Wallace confronted Kerry about his comments and asked if he was implying that the Israeli government had gone too far in its Gaza operations.

Kerry said Israel had a right to defend itself but stood by his comments.

“It’s tough to have these kind of operations. I reacted, obviously, in a way that anybody does with respect to young children and civilians,” Kerry said. “War is tough. I’ve said that publicly and I've said it again. We defend Israel’s right to do what it is doing.

He should have told them the truth instead of the CYA BS the Democrats always use. In particular "We defend Israel's right to do what it is doing".

We defend Israel's right to slaughter innocents with a massive military operation totally out of proportion to the threat Israel faced?

but look, might he have told what he previously implied, that's Irsaels operation is ugly, would have he been harassed for days by the whole RW , corporate media, and Israel's far righters.... And unlike a HRC, Kerry doesnt have that sooooo important " charisma" , or, precicely, "popularity" and therefore, he doesnt have the "good" and "powerfull "platform to backclash.... If he would have acted like this, the non-story would have run for days on air, and it could have an impact of importante negociations.
