Joe Scarborough on Thursday brushed off rumors that he and his "Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brzezinski were "aggressively angling" to replace David Gregory as the hosts of NBC's "Meet The Press."
Page Six reported Wednesday, citing anonymous NBC sources, that Gregory may be replaced as the moderator of the long-running Sunday show soon after the midterm elections. The tabloid reported that Scarborough and Brzezinski had been jockeying for the Sunday slot, and The Daily Beast also ran its own anonymously sourced item stating that the MSNBC co-hosts had been "aggressively angling for the job in the event of Gregorys all-but-certain demise."
Some NBC insiders expressed concern about Scarborough, a former Republican congressman, taking the helm of the ostensibly nonpartisan Sunday show, according to the Page Six report.
Scarborough denied on Twitter that he and Brzezinski were "aggressively angling" for the job:

There have been numerous stories with NBC News sources saying that Mika and I have been "aggressively angling" for MTP. That is false.

I mean, I like it like that but his name is in the show title.

(5,842 posts)From the failed PR campaign of "Joe and Mika - Cable's Hepburn and Grant?" to Huff Post's obsession with covering the most banal moments of Morning Joe it just boggles the mind.
Arguably, the show was pretty watchable back during the 2008 campaign. At the time there was the push to make the show an even-balanced counter-point to Fox and Friends. However, the show eventually downgraded itself over time into a "morning zoo" routine and then completed cratered when it morphed into the Joe Scarborough morning show monologue.
Why anyone at MSNBC thinks a third rate former Congressman who left office years ago needs/deserves more air time to air his revisionist take on history and politics as host of MTP is beyond me.

(30,058 posts)Their thoughts i really enjoyed the show. He gets too loud and doesn't shut his mouth. I love to listen to Mika's dad, got lots of good information. Steve Ratner has facts to back up his story. I don't think Joe has what it takes for a successful MTP.
