48 Shades of Brown

I highly recommend 48 Shades of Brown, it's a nice coming of age novel and the movie based on it is really good. It's about a kid meandering his way through life falling for a girl who is more like a sister to him (doesn't see him the way he sees her anyway).

Some of my favorite authors are Australian. John Marsden's "Tomorrow series" is probably the best. Chronicles a girl and her friends as they fight back against an invasion of Australia. Can be quite dark at times. The movie based upon it is really a faithful adaptation.
