(62,325 posts)end, 'where are you going to go, vote for Romney'? And this is why extreme partisanship is so dangerous. What they need to hear is that we DO have somewhere to go, that if they continue to support these horrors, they will lose their jobs. But so far, they have heard things like this 'look, I'm not happy with this, but if s/he runs I will support him/her'. No wonder we have no power to stop anything they do.

I swear I am getting ready to quit this party if they don't come out and scream 'no more US tax dollars for Israel'.
But then, I remember the Iraqi children, the Libyan children, the Pakistani children, killed by our drones, horror from the sky.
And I remember reading yesterday from an Israeli news paper, that the 'US has no moral authority to tell Israel anything, just look at their own record of killing children.

(11,916 posts)I don't speak of it on FB because I have Jewish friends who are on both sides, and I have a few Palestinian friends who just want to be friends. It's wrong. I'm glad my church divested. All I keep thinking of is that you would think a people who had been under extermination would not turn into ones doing the exterminating, then I think I must not know enough about it because I haven't delved into their history, etc. To me (strictly my opinion), it seems their fight would be with the people of Hamas and not all Palestinians, yet the powers that be feel that all Palestinians should be dead. How can we as the US, offer shelter/protection to Palestinians already here while funding this destruction.

And in the hearts of the Arabs who could give the Palestinians a sliver of land to call their own, but for some unGodly reason don't.

(37,364 posts)there is footage of the destruction of fuel tanks for the hospital, the power center for the area, more residential areas, and Netanyahou's promising to continue for the long haul. What is left to destroy? Is it time to bomb the rubble to make certain that the dead are really dead or that the remaining children are wiped out too? This is a massacre. It is inhumane. It is unnecessary. It is wrong.

(1,942 posts)The world does nothing, as it usually does nothing, just like when the Jews tried to get asylum in the USA in the 40's and were turned away only to die later in concentration camps.
We have become so familiar with horror and propaganda that we have lost our moral compass...
I feel ashamed that my tax dollars are paying for this.
Part of the problem is the mixing up of Jews and Israel. Israel is not the Jews, it is a country built on invasion and that continues invasion, until no one is left to defend themselves.
Why do people on both sides equate Jewish people, and the extreme right-wing Likud government?
A great number of Jews (Hassidim among others) were against the creation of Israel. In the olden days, before 1948, Jews and Palestinians who spoke Arabic and were of many religious persuasions got along just fine. But Israel happened, and it needs to stay alive. It can only do that by stopping the bloodshed.
Why does a nation that was created to heal a huge wound want to do the same thing to a mostly innocent population they declared was less than them? Is it the abused child syndrome, where children of abusers have a tendency to become abusers themselves?
This is bad for the world, bad for the state of Israel, and bad for us

This is no different than what the Nazi party did to the Jewish people in the ghettos back in WW2.

We cannot expect a country (Israel in this case) to tolerate rocket fire indefinitely.
Even the most pacifist and peaceful country will snap eventually if it keeps being attacked.
It sucks that children have to suffer.

(200 posts)Israel is responding to the ongoing attack.
They target places from where the rockets are fired.
The children are dying because terrorists (Hamas) put the children in harms way.
In you mind, how should Israel deal with the rocket attacks from Gaza?
- forcibly remove settlements from Gaza? - oh wait ...
- let the Hamas rockets rain AKA "roll over and die" - I am sure a lot of people would like it
morningfog
(18,115 posts)They intentionally kill children, that cannot be disputed.
Setting all that to the side, Israel's current massacre does not match its stated objective of the security of its people. Quite the opposition. Israel is radicalizing another generation of Palestinians and pushing towards a third intifada.

(200 posts)1. They launch missiles that provoke a justified response.
2. Some of their own missiles fall within Gaza killing civilians
3. Israel responds to suppress the missile fire
4. Hamas makes it impossible to avoid civilian casualties by selecting the launch sites in proximity to children.
Impossible to prove but a lot of reasonable people feel that Hamas does that on purpose to fuel their PR campaign.
Hamas deserves most (all?) of the blame.
Instead, all you and a few others do is blame Israel.
morningfog
(18,115 posts)Israel is killing children. That is a fact and cannot be disputed. The rest is disgusting apologia. You are trying to justify Israels' war crimes.
