think they haven't arrested Zimmerman yet because they can't find him and he maybe left the country?
I think they're accumulating 'evidence,' and he's with his family; law enforcement knows where he is (generally,) and he's being protected from possible harm/harassment by the public.

(2,407 posts)but i think and i have from the beginning that he's gone, gone from this country at least, and can you imagine the backlash at this point if thay say they can't find him.

(3,491 posts)Sanford cops that are doing the arresting. Manslaughter is not good enough, he needs to go down for at least second degree IMO.

(90,061 posts)He is not the sharpest knife in the drawer, and I would be most surprised if the cops don't know his whereabouts.

(2,407 posts)gentle but I would bet a guess he is no longer in this country. I feel that was one of the reasons they didn't arrest him, he was gone and they needed too save face?? no ? maybe?
He would not be your routine refugee.

(22,143 posts)That's why they didn't really bother with an investigation or anything. His story was accepted as fact, the body taken away and that was going to be the end of it. I wonder if they even can arrest him at this point.

(6,199 posts)someone arrogant enough to gun down an unarmed kid is probably arrogant enough to expect to get away with it. Especially since he *has* gotten away with it so far.
Assuming an arrest does happen at some point, I would guess that he'll probably keep expecting that it won't happen right up until it does.

(26,549 posts)They'll quickly arrest someone if the police/prosecutors don't think they'll be able to find the defendant again. They'll also quickly arrest if they think the defendant is going to harm anyone else. But otherwise, they take their time with arrests.
Why? Because it starts the clock running on that "speedy trial" thing. So if the two conditions above are not met, finish the investigation first and then arrest and trial.
