Good thoughts/vibes to him, his family and Emory staff. This made me sad.

(5,909 posts)I don't give a flying fuck if he was a Christian missionary...he was doing more to help the world than I do.

And yeah, seriously. "Missionary" does not mean "inquisitor" anymore, and most times never did. I never had anything against anybody who felt it was a tenet of their faith to spread the word, when they did far less than this man did to serve humanity. Crapping on him for his religious beliefs/practices when he was willing to treat people who most of us don't even want in our country, that's just sick.
(As for me, while I could wish for a level 4 lab and sterile quarantine area on a lovely remote island, it ain't happening today.)

(14,881 posts)It's sad to watch, but he is ambulatory and his last steps looked better than the first 2, wobbly ones when he was climbing out of the ambulance.
Now he will be able to see his family through a window and speak to them through an intercom. I expect that will be a relief and emotional boost for him.

(14,881 posts)Dr. Sanjay Gupta said he was surprised at his condition, that he was ambulatory. Apparently he was able to shower by himself prior to leaving Liberia.
Writebol's condition does not sound nearly as good. The most recent update I've seen says she is "responsive."

(5,909 posts)It does like a tabloid move....I'd be more worried about the guys standing around on the left.

(44,974 posts)There is a guy with camera in the background also filming it, he has no protective gear on.
You can see him in the OP video also (he is very close to the ambulance).

He's well out of reach of even an explosive sneeze. And Dr. Brantly's fluids are contained in his in a biohazard suit.
The unit will be locked, probably with keycard or keypad entry only.

I read that as blood transmitted. Not sure about saliva.

(14,881 posts)but as I wrote above, his fluids are all contained so even if he expelled a large sneeze droplet, it wasn't going anywhere.

(813 posts)but every day that passes is a victory. I've read that it normally kills in four or five days. He's working on a week, apparently no bleeding and is ambulatory. I'm so very, very hopeful for him and the world. It seems like his co worker is also holding her own. I'm so relieved they are bringing them home. Sending positive thoughts!!
