The Derbyshire article hasn't been scrubbed, but...

The Derbyshire article hasn't been scrubbed, but it almost seems that way. Takimag.com has been almost inaccessible since the Derbyshire flap began... I guess they never expected so many viewers! Sometimes you can access the article, but usually it just times out.

(Takimag.com would never scrub the piece. As a fringier outlet, this is their lucky day... almost nobody had even heard of them before. But they lack the internet infrastructure to capitalize on their own noteriety.)

This creates a weird media situation. Millions of people read about NRO firing Derbyshire but couldn't see why because the article he was fired over is copyright protected so the articles about the firing can only include a little excerpt. The only way to actually read it is from a server that can't handle the level of interest.

Just an irony of media.

That said, I am absolutely certain that Derbyshire's rant will actually be taught to many children in many households as a serious and wise discourse, and will become a canonical work of neo-white supremacism. So though ironically inaccessible today, a victim of its own notorious success, I suspect this thing will be around for some time to come.

on my phone or laptop. Not saying you are incorrect, just FYI.

By the way, I have a comment buried somewhere in the comments section (up to 2,347 now). Can anyone find it?

and many, many, many tries to see both pages of it, and I cannot even access other articles there.

Your point about the phone is interesting... Sites that have mobile versions are really working with two different sites and what goes for computer might not go for mobile, and visa-versa.

Also, it occurs to me that if your software isn't set up for it that receiving thousands of comments could shut down a page.

All I know is that I have not been able to access the site much. (I want to read some of the other articles to get a sense of the site, but cannot usually get to any of them.)

Could be just me, I suppose.

Joe Bob Briggs posts there.

Now that you mention it, the other articles on the site load rather slow. I think that the Derbyshite article may have been loading alright because I have simply been refreshing the same pages I loaded three days ago.

Really, I don't see any difference at all between that Derbyshire piece and the comments, and any other article on Stormfront. No difference at all.

7. IWSB's!!!!

(13) In that pool of forty million, there are nonetheless many intelligent and well-socialized blacks. (I’ll use IWSB as an ad hoc abbreviation.) You should consciously seek opportunities to make friends with IWSBs. In addition to the ordinary pleasures of friendship, you will gain an amulet against potentially career-destroying accusations of prejudice.

(14) Be aware, however, that there is an issue of supply and demand here. Demand comes from organizations and businesses keen to display racial propriety by employing IWSBs, especially in positions at the interface with the general public—corporate sales reps, TV news presenters, press officers for government agencies, etc.—with corresponding depletion in less visible positions. There is also strong private demand from middle- and upper-class whites for personal bonds with IWSBs, for reasons given in the previous paragraph and also (next paragraph) as status markers.

(15) Unfortunately the demand is greater than the supply, so IWSBs are something of a luxury good, like antique furniture or corporate jets: boasted of by upper-class whites and wealthy organizations, coveted by the less prosperous. To be an IWSB in present-day US society is a height of felicity rarely before attained by any group of human beings in history. Try to curb your envy: it will be taken as prejudice (see paragraph 13).

There's occasionally going to be some insight in there somewhere, but you're going to have to chip the shit off with jackhammers first.

The website's disgustingly sexist but pretty much right-on evisceration of The Hunger Games, for example.

"Hollywood is always being accused of dumbing down the American public, but in reality, movie folks waste some of their potential profits smartening up their films for their own enjoyment. The Hunger Games’ success shows how low the audience would go."

Couldn't have said it better myself. Both of my film professors and a film textbook agree with him.

"The reason for all the different theories about the movie’s subtext is because it doesn’t have one."

Likewise. I just wish this was an accepted argument in academic papers.

But you only get to read that if you can get past the idea of a guy writing an article called "Mortal Combat From A Feminine Perspective".

Which, quite reasonably, many people can't. But if you want to know what the only-partially-stupid Right is thinking, it's a hell of a lot better than Fox News. And if you can't tell the difference between this and Stormfront, you're being hideously blind. Not everything you dislike is identical to everything else you dislike, even when the dislike is completely justified.

BTW the site worked perfectly for me with no discernable delay, and I looked at far too many pages. I need to wash my eyes with bleach.
