Fox News 35 Orlando calls neo-nazi group in Sanford, FL a 'civil rights' group

Last edited Sun Apr 8, 2012, 07:03 PM - Edit history (1)

Via Pam's House Blend where Pam includes a screencap.

The headline is: "Civil rights group patrolling Sanford"

Florida members of the Detroit-based National Socialist Movement tells FOX35 they are patrolling the streets of Sanford.

The white rights organization says several Sanford citizens have called on them fearing their safety.

The group's commander talked with FOX35 Saturday about their presence in the now racially divided Florida town where Trayvon Martin was shot and killed by George Zimmerman.

Here is a link to the original blurb while it's still up: http://www.myfoxorlando.com/dpp/news/trayvon_martin/040712-Civil-rights-group-patrolling-Sanford

Pam notes that the Southern Poverty Law Center classifies the group as a hate group.
As Pam says, perhaps that news team should do a bit of research before writing articles for their site.

Update: Headline has been changed to "White rights group patrolling Sanford" Thanks meeksgeek for the new link. : http://www.myfoxorlando.com/dpp/news/trayvon_martin/040712-White-rights-group-patrolling-Sanford

(Not really.)

In this video of their broadcast, you can see this isn’t just a fluke headline — the anchor refers to the Nazis as a “civil rights group” by name. And you can also see that they went to the Nazis’ website, and looked right at the swastika logo. In the whole clip, there isn’t even a hint of the group’s true nature.

Again: what the hell is happening at this news channel, that they can’t distinguish between a “civil rights group” and an armed gang of white supremacists and neo-Nazis? Un-freaking-believable.

1.- we have had one person insisting this is not going on, even though he is on the other side of the country. In fact my neighbor to be exact." This is confirmation number three that indeed it is going on.

2- civil rights and neo nazi do not go together.

Of note, believe it or not, not all local fox stations are this clueless. Our local fox affiliate is like the best when it comes to Occuoy, so I'd look into ownership issues for the affiliate.

the other affiliates and devolved into a weather radar contest with some scores and filler.

Of course they are all long gone now but even still the Fox affiliate is still probably the only attempt at news and is no less devoid of content or more conservative in bent than any of the others.

My thought has often been that Fox News rides the credibility of their locals to some degree or another. Especially, in the beginning to lock down the following. Might have been a big boon as the little dishes took off about the same time to have those locals build brand recognition and some credibility.

I'm pretty sure the Jewish community is quite upset about this as well.

We already know how racist Fake news is although I know they will tout about their minority news persons such as G. Rivera and Juan Williams and of course Herman Cain, which are jokes.
