Nonpartisan Study: Sovereign Citizens Pose Bigger Threat To USA Than Islamic ExtremistsbyScientistocratFollowforScientistocrat
Cliven Bundy, I'm calling you out.
A study conducted by the nonpartisan agency the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism has found in a study reported to the US Department of Homeland Security that sovereign citizens, people who claim that they are only answerable to their own interpretation of the law and a pseudo-nation of in and of themselves (and surprise, surprise often think with prejudices that belong in the 1800's), pose a more dangerous threat to our national security than Islamic extremists. 4500 officers from 2100 federal, state, local, and tribal agencies agree:

(30,058 posts)I may not like all the rules and regulations but is this group just against the rules or have they slipped past sanity and into a world of terror. I understand Terry McVeigh was a portion, he was a terrorist plain and simple. We protect the citizens of the US but these are not law abiding and thinks the government is for something for them to terrorize. It is a shame, we have a wonderful nation and we have many freedoms we enjoy. I don't know what their problem may be but they are terrorist.

As Bundy, Nugent, Pratt, etc show, the real "Enemies of the state" may be on the right?

(11,804 posts)Are you talking about an actual threat or a rhetorical threat. Certainly if you are talking about a rhetorical threat, than yes Republicans have since WW2 at least been very comfortable complaining that their political enemies were really traitors who were trying to destroy America.
If you are saying that the American left has been an actual threat, than I hope you have enjoyed your time at DU.

(344 posts)It would seem to be that the right has been a bit of both, especially recently.
What I think may be happening is that as the rhetoric of the American Right is being rejected, as their base ages and as youth grow up in more diverse and connected world, that they may see an uprising as their only option.
BUT most Americans over the decades have been told that the insurgents are on the left, not the right.
