Celebrate Nixon Resignation day: August 9, 1974.

On the 8th, Nixon announced his resignation which officially occurred on the 9th.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nixon_Resignation#Resignation

Since the 9th falls on a Saturday, the celebration will be a real Saturday nigh massacre. We'll begin by having watergate salad which is quite delicious especially with cover-up icing. For a cocktail, we'll have an Agent Orange Vodka while listening to a special smoking-gun mix tape. Afterward one could dress up like a plumber and plug those darn liberal media leaks. I'll only casually mention Dick Nixon and deep throat. Don't forget to follow the money.

Other activities might include the reading of the Pentagon Papers. As a bonus you could turn on Fox News and watch some Republican Creeps (Nixon actually had a Committee to RE-Elect the President). Then you can pardon yourself for listening to FAUX news.

I hope I didn't FORGET anything...but that's another scandal...Iran Contra and Ronnie Reagan. Remember, as Uncle Ronnie used to say, Republicans never turn on each other, they just turn on America.

In 2010 Nixon still had an approval rating of 29%, lowest of any back to JFK. JFK's was 85%, the highest.

My dad - an old union guy and longtime Nixon-hater - and I - longhaired pot smoking rock bassist of 17 years - watched it together. IIRC - and it's possible I don't - he said something like "good riddance."

uh...teen. The TV was in a college dorm lounge.

And I vividly remember getting mad when he started talking how no one would remember what a saint his mother was. I yelled, "Don't bring HER into it, you -- you -- PRIVATE CITIZEN, you!"

It was a Post Office and jampacked with employees who were also college students.
