Joan Rivers: 'Palestinians Deserve To Be Dead'

Joan Rivers is known for her scathing sharp tongue, and yet her take on the Isaeli-Gaza crisis is one of her most controversial views to date. When told by a reporter than almost 2,000 Palestinians have been killed in the conflict, she raised her hands in mock shock (scroll down to watch the film).

“Oh my God! Tell that to the people in Hiroshima,” she says on film. “Good. Good. When you declare war, you declare war. They started it. We now don't count who's dead. You're dead, you deserve to be dead. Don’t you dare make me feel bad about that.”

“They were told to get out. They didn’t get out. You don’t get out, you are an idiot. At least the ones that were killed were the ones with low IQs.” She went onto describe Gaza’s Hamas government as “terrorists”. The comedian – who has defended Israel previously – has since claimed her opinions were taken out of context (although they were made on film), publishing a statement on her official Facebook page, in which she says she is “praying for peace”. “I am both saddened and disappointed that my statement about the tragedy of civilian casualties was totally taken out of context,” she wrote. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/joan-rivers-palestinians-deserve-to-be-dead-9656554.html

...but, then there's just inhumane, mean-spiritedness. I've loved Joan since the early 70's, but perhaps it's time to retire.

She recently walked out on air during a CNN interview because the reporter asked her about her response to animal rights folks who showed up at a her book signing to protest her wearing fur on the cover of her new book. She thought the negative questioning was out of line. Looks like she can dish it out but can't take it. Not even a little.

I would have guessed that she was dead long ago.
Oh well at least Israel still has some supporters.

As anyone alive in the US today should know, your chances of actually being represented by the people elected to do so in government are rather slim much of the time, and war crimes are committed that many, maybe even most, of us wish would not occur.

I can't say I ever had much respect for Joan Rivers, but she's right down there with Victoria Jackson or Stephen Seagal now.

she is probably getting privately swamped with "thank you for speaking the truth" messages.
